Student Radio Career
Joey joined the Ohio State Student Radio team during the spring
quarter of his freshmen year. During that time, Joey helped to co-host
the “411 on the 513” radio show with Bob Strickley and
Evan Winkofsky. Joey also became a regular in the broadcast booth
at Buckeye Field where he called many of Ohio State’s softball
games.
2008- (Sophomore Season)
Currently a
sophomore, Joey teamed up with Bob Strickley to host the “Queen
City Sports Talk” radio show. As far as broadcasting goes,
Joey hopes to continue to call softball games in the spring as well
as get the opportunity to call baseball games at Bill Davis Stadium.
Joey has also expressed interest in helping wherever he may be needed.
Prior To Ohio State
In high school, Joey was a member of the cross country team for
four years, where he earned a varsity letter during his junior and
senior seasons. He was also named co-captain of the cross country
team during his senior year. He also played baseball for two years
and earned a varsity letter during his senior year. Outside of athletics,
Joey was a reporter and producer during his sophomore, junior, and
senior year for his high school’s monthly news broadcast,
MBC News. Joey was also the assistant sports editor for his high
school newspaper “The Chronicle” during his senior year.
Personal
Born on February 10, 1988, Joey is the oldest child of parents Joe
and Kathy D’Amico. He has one sibling, a younger sister named
Christina. From the Cincinnati area, Joey’s first love is
the Cincinnati Reds and you will most likely find him at Great American
Ballpark during the summer. He is a big fan of Marty and Thom Brennaman.
If he’s not listening to the Reds on the radio, he will be
listening to country music. Joey also enjoys Cincinnati Bengals
football and Columbus Blue Jackets Hockey. Joey hopes to land a
job in the communications department of a sports organization after
he graduates from Ohio State.
