Ohio
State Student Radio Career
Sophomore
Year
This year started on a very high note as I was given a chance to become
part of the football broadcasting crew. I was given a season press
pass to attend all of the home games. I was even lucky enough to attend
the Purdue game to watch the Buckeyes steamroll the Boilermakers.
I was a regular fixture on the Athletic Department Pre-game Show and
also was a color commentator for the Northwestern and Illinois games.
This year I have also done play by play and analysis for Men’s
Hockey and Men’s and Women’s Basketball. I am also the
Host/Creator of “3 and Out” an NFL show.
Freshman
Year
My freshman year, at the involvement fair, I “got involved.”
I signed up, went to the first meeting and was willing to broadcast
any sport. I was given my first shot with Women’s Soccer. This
year I have been apart of broadcasts for Men’s and Women’s
Soccer, Men’s and Women’s basketball, hockey and softball.
This includes play by play, color commentary, and hosting pre-game,
post-game shows. I was also fortunate enough to broadcast the 2007
Softball Big 10 tournament in Columbus. I have been given a chance
to host and create my own show “The 411 on the 513” a
Cincinnati sports show. This year has been a lot of fun and I have
been given so much opportunity.
Personal
I was born October 2nd 1987 to Ed and Cathy Winkofsky in Centerville
Ohio. I have two older brothers Ed and Eric Winkofsky. I attended
Incarnation Grade School and Archbishop Alter High School. My favorite
sports teams are the Chicago Bears, Bulls, and White Sox. I have been
to one Bulls game and I have never attended a Bears game. I have always
dreamed of working for a sports franchise and one day I hope to see
a Bears game at Soldier Field.
Prior
to Ohio State
I played soccer at Alter High School Freshman and Sophomore year.
I ran Cross Country and Track in my Junior Year. I was starting Varsity
Goalkeeper for Alter in my Senior year. I was Vice President of the
Alter Ski Club Junior year and President Senior year. I was stadium
announcer for the Varsity Baseball Team my Senior Year. I had no previous
radio experience before getting involved at OSU.
